The Caves At Nerja
Discovered in 1959, the caves at Nerja boast the largest stalagmites in
the world and a series of vast underground galleries.
WHAT YOU VISIT Nerja Caves - Discovered in 1959, the cave complex boasts
the tallest stalagmites in the world - over 224 feet high - and immense
underground galleries. Visit Cataclysm Chamber with its 90-foot tall central
column, the Hall of the Nativity with its flowstones, columns, stalagmites
and stalactites, and the Hall of the Cascade. Humans inhabited the caves
over 325,000 years ago.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY Nerja Aqueduct - Still in use today, the aqueduct is a
superb illustration of the beauty and utility of Roman architecture.
WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY Board your air-conditioned motorcoach and
drive east from Malaga, passing the towns of La Cala, Rincon de la Victoria,
and Torre del Mar. Travel through a subtropical landscape of sugar cane
plantations, avocado groves, and custard tree orchards, to Nerja.
SPECIAL NOTES The drive between Malaga and Nerja is approximately an hour
long.
This tour involves considerable walking as well as climbing and
descending steps. Recommended for physically fit passengers. Wear
