House
construction next door south side.
I thought it would be cool to take
pictures of the house next door - on the south side - while under
construction.
Houses in FL are built very differently then up north.
Current hurricane codes require new home construction to tolerate
160 mph winds.
Houses in my area are first built up
to get out of the flood zone. My house for example is 11 feet above
the flood zone. So the house under construction is built using these
cinder blocks to create a stem wall. Filler is brought in to fill
the area inside the cinder blocks. After laying the plumbing pipes,
the slab is poured inside the stem walls. This means the house floor
will be above the stem walls. More cinder blocks will be brought in
to make up the walls of the house. These cinder blocks will go from
the stem wall up to the roof line. The roof will be attached to the
cinder block walls iron tie downs.
