Cuban Breaded Steak - Bistec Empanizado

Prep time: 20 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes
Total time: 30 minutes
Yield: 2 servings

1/4 cup sour orange juice (equal parts lime and grapefruit juice)
4 minced garlic cloves
4 1/4 inch sirloin (minute) steaks
Vegetable oil for shallow frying
4 beaton eggs
1 cup fine cracker meal
1/2 cup flour
2 limes cut into wedges


Combine orange juice and garlic in bowl.
Place steaks in glass dish.
Pour mixture over steaks.
Cover with plastic wrap.
Marinade in fridge for 1 hour.

Drain steaks.
Pat dry.
Season with salt and pepper.

Heat oil in pan over medium high heat.
Place beaton eggs in bowl
Combine cracker meal and flour in dish.
Dip steaks into eggs and then flour mixture.
Repeat dippling.
Gently place steaks in hot oil.
Fry each steak seperate.
Cook 3 minutes per side until golden brown.
Transfer steaks to paper towel lined pan to drain.
Serve immediately with wedges of lime.
