Baked Ziti
1 poundmild Italian sausage
2 pounds ground beef
1 pound ground pork or veal
1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
1/2 cup fresh oregano leaves
1 cup Italian bread crumbs
3 eggs
3 tablespoons of spice world minced garlic
salt and pepper to taste
olive oil
3 28 oz. cans crushed tomatoes
(drained)
1 container Ricotta cheese
1 pound of ziti (cook 12
minutes and drain)
16 ounces of shredded mozarella
Directions:
mix bread crumbs with ground beef, ground pork,
and eggs.
Form into meatballs.
Fry in pan with olive oil until browned on outside.
Brown the Italian sausage.
Use 16 quart pot.
Add crushed tomatoes and seasonings.
Add all meats.
Stir and cover leaving small crack.
Cook on low all day (about 6 hours).
Stir occasionally so that it
doesn't stick or burn on bottom.
Use large foil pan.
Fill pan about halft way with sauce.
mix the sauce with 1 container ricotta cheese to make it pink.
mix with drained 1 box of al dente ziti.
Sprinkle shredded mozarella on top.
Bake at 325 just until the mozzarella is melted. -
about 15 minutes.
NOTE: Don't skimp on sauce because you don't want the ziti to be dry.
