  • Apple Pie
     

    To make crust, see Pie Crust recipe.

     

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees

    Ingredients:

    6 or 7 medium peeled apples, sliced ¼ inch thick (about 6 cups)
    ¾ cup sugar
    2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
    ¼ teaspoon salt
    3 tablespoons butter (for dotting tops of apples)

    egg wash (2 egg yolks whisked with 2 tablespoon of water)
    2 tablespoons granulated sugar

    Directions:

  • Mix all ingredients and put in uncooked pie crust (deep dish). Mound apples in the middle. Dot apples with butter. Cover with uncooked pie crust. Cut pie crust to vent. Brush with egg wash. Sprinkle with a remaining sugar. Bake at 425 for 15 minutes. Lower temperature to 350 and bake until crust is golden brown and juices are bubbling, approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.
