Early in the morning, Lou hit the deck to get these snaps of the monuments and bridges as we approached Lisbon.

Karen returns from her trip to see the Virgin Mary.

Visit To Fátima (Karen)
Every year, pilgrims journey to the shrine of Our Lady of Fátima to pray at the site where the Virgin made her miraculous appearance in 1917. Your guide introduces you to the modern basilica, the Chapel of Apparitions and visit the shepherds’ houses.

Our Lady Of Fátima Basilica - The shrine of Fátima marks the site where the Virgin miraculously appeared to three shepherds on 13 May 1917. The Virgin asked the children to pray for peace and promised to return on the 13th day of every month until October. Thousands soon flocked to the sight and swore they saw the sun rotating on the Virgin’s final appearance. Today, the faithful continue to visit, seeking one of the miraculous cures that have occurred there. In 1982, Pope John-Paul II addressed more than a million people in the basilica’s square. Your guide introduces you to the modern basilica, which boasts a 213-foot tower surmounted by a bronze crown weighing seven tons and a transparent cross illuminated during night services. The square is dominated by the Chapel of Apparitions built on the place where the Virgin Mary appeared and where the statue of our Lady is kept. You have approximately two-and-a-half hours of independent time at this revered site. Lunch will be on your own.

Browse amidst the square for mementos and religious articles.

Departing the pier, you travel north from Lisbon via Avenida de Ceuta, passing the airport, to the new highway to Fátima.

Euros are recommended to purchase your lunch.

This tour will only operate on calls with a minimum duration in Lisbon of 8 hours.
